The new BMW eRR electric superbike showcased at Munich

BMW has created quite a stir at Munich by unveiling its eagerly awaited eRR electric superbike.

Alternative fuel technologies are being experimented with when it comes to most leading manufacturers of two and four wheelers alike. While Daimler showcased its electric truck line up and several companies have been touting electric supercars, BMW Motorrad has definitely exceeded industry expectations with the unveiling of its all new eRR electric two wheeler in Munich and this is based on the S1000RR, one of its best products.

The 1000cc engine of the S1000RR has been replaced with a battery powered engine and this should have minimal impact on acceleration and power according to experts. While official details of the bike have not been announced by the company as of yet, the ECIMA could be the venue for attaining the same. The RR has always set high standards when it comes to motorsports and racing. The electric drive and sports features will definitely lead to an innovation unlike any other in this segment according to BMW Motorrad Head Stephan Schaller.

From a visual perspective, the eRR looks unique in comparison to the S1000 RR with regard to the exhaust and missing headlights. The rest of the bike looks quite similar to its electric counterpart. The suspension system and chassis are also the same for the bike and performance figures should also be quite similar. All in all, this novel superbike should definitely kick start a new product revolution across the globe and BMW will certainly be hailed as the pioneers of this new and exciting trend.
