UP Board students will learn banking and cashless transactions from Class 9 onwards

The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education affiliated schools will be including lessons related to banking and cashless transactions from Class 9 onwards. The curriculum will be introduced in more than 25,000 schools that are affiliated to the UP Board. This will be introduced from the 2017-18 session and the syllabus can be checked on the upmsp.edu.in official website.

As per the secretary of the UP Board, Shail Yadav, the amended curriculum also gets subject changes and these include Science, Home Science and Hindi. The updated syllabuses have been uploaded on the Board’s official website according to him. Schools will be taking students on visits to banks for helping them understand banking terms and how financial institutions function. They will also learn on depositing and withdrawing cash along with applying for loans.

The curriculum will include the following aspects-

  1. Knowledge about procurement and usage of debit and credit cards
  2. Safety precautions for using the same
  3. Online transactions with banks
  4. Procedures of applying for PAN (Permanent Account Number) cards
  5. Information on the Goods & Services Tax (GST)

The amended school curriculum has already been dispatched to all school district inspectors (DIoS) on the 5th of May, 2017.
