HRD Minister says Institutions Need to Focus on Research


Research is one of the vital fields of education in the world. In India, there are only a few institutions that are focused in this field. Only one scientific research institution in India has a world ranking – Indian Institute of Science. It is also regarded as the best university in India. Apart from this, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) are present in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Mohali, and Pune and they have been declared as one of the institutions of national importance by the Act of Parliament. The government is also collaborating with popular foreign institutions to provide quality research opportunities for Indian students.

 

What and How

HRD minister Prakash Javadekar addressed the students of a private management institute in Gurgaon yesterday. It was their convocation and he addressed them through video conference. He stressed on the need for focus on research field in India. He said that educational institutes need to focus on research in order to help the country’s growth. In order to manage the economy, India needs to have expertise in a variety of sectors.

He also added that as the economy of the country grows, good leaders and better managers are required for the betterment of the country. They can get the necessary training from our educational institutes only. He said that the management institutes in our country will provide the appropriate training to students on ways to manage the economy of India.

The current problems faced by the Indian economy was also covered in his speech. The government is introducing various schemes to generate employment in the country. He also said that skill-building projects are also launched by the government.

The guest of honour of the convocation ceremony was Ved Prakash, the UGC chairperson. He said that one of the most enduring organizations in the world are learning institutes and that they have been responsible for taking the society to the next level of development.

Chairman of MDI (Management Development Institute), Sanjay Dhande also addressed the students at the ceremony.
