NEET-SS for Super Speciality Courses to be Held in June


The Health Ministry announced on Wednesday that on 10th June of next year, the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for super speciality courses shall be conducted in various cities in the country.

The statement by the Health Ministry stated that the examination will be organised by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) and shall be a computer-based one. The exam will comprise of MD/MS curriculum questions – 200 multiple choice questions. The curriculum referred here is the one that the medical colleges in the country follow and that the Medical Council of India prescribe and adopt after the consent of the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said that this exam for super speciality courses, known as NEET-SS (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Super Specialty), can be considered hereon as the single-window entrance test to get into courses like DM / MCh / PDCC.

The statement also added that, neither at the State level nor at the Institutional level, any other exam or entrance test conducted by any medical college, university or medical institution will be valid with effect from the next admission session which is in 2017. This is in accordance with the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956.
