Benelli Tornado 302 Unveiled at EICMA 2015

The Benelli Tornado 302 was showcased at the EICMA 2015. It is the first fully faired bike from the company since it launched the Tornado 1130 back in 2003. The bike uses a 2 cylinder, in line DOHC engine which displaces 300 cc, much like the Benelli TNT 300. The liquid cooled bike is hooked to a 6 speed transmission. It has a new map that redlines at 12000 rpm while producing a power of 35.4 PS. The Tornado 302 produces a torque of 27 Nm at 9000 rpm. The top speed of the bike has been claimed to be 170 kmph. The reduction in torque and power and the quiet exhaust notes ensure that Tornado 302 clears the Euro 4 norms. The bike can be bought with an upgraded kit for the track, where you shall get an open exhaust which provides an added 40 PS.

The Benelli Tornado 302 has been built on a new trellis frame and has plastic covered around the swing arm pivot. In the new set up, its engine is a bigger part of the frame for structural functioning. It helps in lowering the bike’s weight to 180 kg from 196 kg that was the TNT 300. Invested forks of 41 mm have been put in the Benelli Tornado 302 whereas the steel swingarm has a lateral shock absorber along with an adjustable preload. The bike is apt for regular and sporty use which indicates a softer suspension. The handlebar has been put down as well. For handling braking, Benelli has embellished twin floating discs of 260 mm along with a four piston calliper, single disc of 240 mm with single piston calliper brake at the back wheel with an option of ABS and brake up front. The aluminium wheels of 17 inches get 150 section (back) and 110 section (front) Metzeler tyres, which is the same as KTM Duke 390.

The final design of the bike shall be shown at the Auto Expo 2016 along with the power parts. It shall be launched in the second half of 2016 and shall make its way to the country soon enough.
