Hyundai set to enter augmented reality space with an app

The Hyundai Virtual Guide will soon be launched by the company and will be a pioneering move in the augmented reality space going by market sources and released information.

Hyundai is stepping into a highly innovative space with its new app. This move is being hailed by industry experts and associations as the company is finally stepping into the augmented reality space, a step that it had been mulling for quite some time. The Hyundai Virtual Guide can now identify and offer vital information relating to Smart Cruise Control, air filter, warning indicators, Bluetooth phone pairing, brake fluid, engine oil, smart trunk and fuse box. The Korean automotive giant wishes to integrate AR car manuals directly into the hands of its customers.

The Hyundai Virtual Guide will be a free app and will be released by the company later in 2015. The app will be compatible with both Android and iOS devices. At the time of its launch, the Hyundai Virtual Guide will be empowered to identify in excess of 45 features of the gorgeous 2015 Hyundai Sonata luxury sedan. Two and three dimensional tracking technologies are made use of by this guide, thereby allowing users to position their tablet or smartphone cameras over various areas and parts of their vehicles to attain extra information and details. Hyundai has claimed that there are six 3D overlays that will pop up on devices post scanning of car parts. However, AR manuals and how-to’s will not be displayed at all times.

Scanning of the car should throw up one of the 82 videos that are integrated into the manual. The 2015 Sonata will be the first of many such models with AR manuals as Hyundai is looking at enlisting all its hot selling car models as quickly as possible.
