What is Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Program?

In Jan 2016, the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Program was launched by PM Narendra Modi partnering with the Sukanya Samriddhi Account Program in an effort to bring an end to the slanted sex ratio in the country and to promote education for girls, encouraging them to attend schools.

The goal of this initiative is to enhance the sex ratio as, currently, the ratio is 980 girls for every 1000 boys.

The main objective of the BBBP scheme is to bring an end to the unfortunate gender-biased, sex-selective discrimination and elimination, to guarantee the girl child’s survival and protection, and to make sure that they’re given an education.

A program initiation by way of a mass communication campaign and multi-sectoral action is being planned by the govt for a hundred chosen districts.
