iPhone 7 – Great Expectations (And Whether Apple Will Meet Them)

iPhone enthusiasts around the world eagerly await the launch of Apple’s newest gadget – the iPhone 7. Rumor has it that the release is tentatively scheduled on 11th September.

The previous iPhone (6) series had a number of unique features like Handoff, Reachability, Display Zoom, and Voice over LTE (VoLTE). However, some admirers were rather miffed over the lack of any significantly improved specs. It’s safe to assume that they’re all hoping that the iPhone 7 doesn’t let them down.

Here are some of the rumored features of the iPhone 7.

1. Goodbye, Headphone Jacks
The Apple iPhone 7 is believed to have ditched the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack that’s been in use since 1979, from the time the first Sony Walkman was released.

The images we’ve seen all seem to point to this. Also, the phone is shown to have adapted to a 3.5mm Lightning adapter, which is sure to make headphone jacks obsolete here. If you’re wondering “how do I listen to music then?”, bluetooth wireless headphones and Lightning-tipped EarPods are the future.

You can now say goodbye to tangled and messy earphone wires, and hello to a quality audio experience.

Pictures have also revealed what looks like an additional speaker grille, which means there might be true stereo sound; this would make the iPhone 7 the first ever Apple smartphone to have this feature.

2. A (Mildly) Altered Design
You can expect superficial external changes in the 7, with a few visual aspects tweaked.

A leaked image showed three versions of the gadget – the iPhone 7, the iPhone 7 Plus, and the iPhone 7 Pro. All three models seem to have the same features, with the only apparent difference being the size of the display.

Despite the obvious evidence of there being three models in the leaked photograph, rumors have now surfaced that Apple might just stick to two models.

Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

3. Better Picture Quality
The iPhone 6 had an 8-megapixel camera with amazing photo clarity. The iPhone 7 promises to get better.

Leaked images show that the phone may have dual rear cameras. This means that your iPhone photography experience improves, with enhanced flexibility and wider-angled shots.

This feature, however, will most likely be available exclusively on the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone Pro, which are larger in size.

4. More Battery Power (Finally)
The iPhone 7 might adopt a 1,960mAh battery in the new models. The upgraded battery is likely to give an additional 90 minutes of video playback time, which would make the battery backup last around 12.5 hours.

5. Say Hello To iOS 10
The iPhone 7 is likely to have upgrades in Siri, maps, photos, and the Messages app. These upgrades are all supported by iOS 10. And yes, you read that right! The new iPhone has a good chance of embracing the all-new iOS.

You can expect other features like full waterproofing, a storage space that supports a whopping 256GB, and an internal memory of 3 GB. The iPhone 7 is sure to be the best Apple phone there is, and with all these features, you can be assured of not being let down. In a very short time, you’ll be able to check it out at web stores or the nearest outlet.
