Medical Dreams in Andhra and Telangana – 20K Students to Write NEET


About 20,000 aspirants will be appearing for Phase 2 of NEET (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) for another chance at admissions to MBBS and BDS courses in colleges across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The second phase of examinations is scheduled for July 24th, just a week away. The four centers where the examination is being held are Hyderabad, Warangal, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.

Intro to NEET
The NEET is an entrance examination for students who aspire for graduate (MBBS, BDS) and post-graduate (MD/MS) medical and dental courses. Students who register for the first phase of the NEET exam are allowed to appear for the second phase, NEET-2, on the condition that they give up their first phase scores.

What has Happened So Far?
The EAMCET (Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test) exams were held in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana respectively for seats to the convener’s quota in medical and dental varsities. However, students who wish to join the management quota in private medical and dental institutions will have to write the NEET-2.

Results
The CBSE, which conducts the entrance exam, will be announcing the results for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 on August 17.

According to Telangana State Medical and Dental Colleges Association President, C. Lakshmi Narasimha Rao, the role of the association has become nil since the Medical Council of India (MCI) is facilitating and organizing admissions in all private medical colleges in the country.
