As per sources, Fiat has recalled a huge number of sedans in China, one of its biggest recalls across the globe. This has got Indian Fiat owners anxious regarding any such action here.

Fiat has a joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co and has filed a recall plan to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) as per the recalling laws in China. Fiat will be recalling a whopping 42, 935 Viaggio sedans in China and has already started the process. This mainly relates to an issue with the gearshift system according to sources.

These Viaggio sedans were manufactured by Fiat in the period between August 2012 and December 2013 according to reports. The gearshift system’s linking parts can possibly come loose in situations which are extreme at best. This can lead to movement that is unintended and uncontrolled, thereby posing potential safety risks for vehicle occupants according to the company statement. Affected owners will be contacted directly by their dealerships with regard to replacing all defective parts without any charges imposed for the same.
