Maruti Suzuki sets an ambitious sales target of 15, 000 cars on Dhanteras which represents a 30% jump in overall sales.
According to company sources, more than 56, 000 enquiries have come in for the Baleno over the last 10 days and the company has already received 21, 000 bookings for the hatchback. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki India expects to meet the 15, 000 sales target on Dhanteras which is considered auspicious for buying precious metals and new consumables. This represents a 30% jump over last year’s figures. The car maker had tallied around 11, 500 units last year on Dhanteras.
According to the Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Mr. RS Kalsi, the company expects to sell approximately 15, 000 units this year backed by factors like cheaper prices of fuel and lower rates of interest. Positive market sentiments may well lead to Maruti Suzuki India meeting its target. The company has also focused on refreshing existing models and launching limited editions of flagship vehicles. These coupled with new product launches have garnered high customer interest in various categories.
The launches of the Ciaz and Ertiga with smart hybrid systems and the Swift limited edition have also garnered higher sales momentum for the company according to Mr. Kalsi. Hyundai Motors is witnessing a similar rise in momentum with expectations of 12, 000 unit deliveries on Dhanteras in comparison to the 1, 100 units that are delivered on a daily basis by the car marker. This has resulted from high growth in the festive period where sales have gone up by approximately 25% in most cases as per the senior VP, sales and marketing, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava.
