Bajaj Auto unveiled three new Avengers in Mumbai recently. The new bikes are set to re-define and expand the cruiser portfolio of Bajaj. The stylish new bikes are the Avenger 220 Cruise, Avenger 220 Street and the Avenger 150 Street. With the expanded cruiser range, Bajaj Auto aims to strengthen its leadership in the premium motorcycle segment.
The new cruisers retain the basic styling and comfort of the earlier Avenger cruisers with many new additional design elements. The Avenger 220 Cruise is styled with a liberal dose of chrome highlights. The new radiator, redesigned side grabs, newly designed exhaust and the new heightened handlebar get the chrome treatment. The Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise also features the characteristic back rest and also an optional wind-shield for comfortable cruising on the highway for both the rider and the pillion.
The Bajaj Avenger 220 Street is stealthier looking with an overall black matte and brushed silver finish. Unlike the older Avengers and the Avenger 220 Cruise, the Avenger Street gets all new cast alloy wheels which would be a first for the cruisers from Bajaj. The Avenger 220 Street has a sporty and youthful appeal. The Avenger Street lacks the characteristic back seat rest which is now replaced by a new grab rail. Its new handlebars are lower for better manoeuvrability while riding in the city streets. The Avenger 220 Street is well balanced for daily city riding and for long weekend rides on the highway. The Bajaj Avenger 150 Street will be available in midnight blue.
Both the new Avengers sport a new Avenger insignia along with new eye catchy graphics. The new Bajaj Avengers feature improved rear suspension, bright white headlamps, clear lens indicators and low seats for better riding comfort and safety.
The 220 Avengers are powered by the reliable and trustworthy 220cc DTSi engine from the Pulsar 220. It delivers 19 PS power at 8,400 rpm and a decent 17.5 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm. The high performance engine is oil-cooled and is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The Avenger 150 Street sports a 150cc DTSi engine which is revised specifically for the new Avenger. It produces a maximum power of 14.5 PS at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm at a low 6,500 rpm.
The new Avengers will be manufactured exclusively at Bajaj’s motorcycle plant in Pune. The Avenger 220 Cruise and Street are priced at INR 84,000 and the Avenger Street 150 is priced at INR 75,000. All the prices are for Ex-showroom, Delhi.
