Hero Motocorp Ltd., the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer launched its new scooter Hero Duet and
Hero Maestro Edge in Bangalore on 28th October. The launch of the Hero Duet comes close on the heels of
launching the Hero Maestro Edge couple of weeks earlier in Delhi. The two scooters were unveiled in
Bangalore exclusively for the South-Indian market by the Head of Sales, Marketing and Campaigning for
Hero Motocorp, Ashok Bhasin.
At present, Hero Motocorp Ltd. has a leading motorcycle market share of 52% while the market share for
scooters is just at 13%. Hero Motocorp, being the market leader for motorcycles, aims to achieve
leadership even in the scooter segment with the launch of its two new scooters. The Hero Maestro Edge
has been well received in the market with 15,000 units already sold in a short span of just two weeks since
its release in Delhi. Hero hopes to achieve the same results with the new Hero Duet.
Both the Hero Duet and the Maestro Edge will be available in LX and VX variants. While the Hero Maestro
Edge has a masculine edgy design and is aimed to woo male customers, the new Hero Duet is a more unisex
scooter which every member of a typical Indian family could use.
With the Hero pleasure aimed towards empowering women, the Hero Maestro Edge attracting the young
men and the new Hero Duet being an all-round family scooter, Hero Motocorp has covered the complete
demographic range with scooters that would satisfy different tastes and preferences of all kinds of
customers.
Both the Hero Maestro Edge and the Hero Duet are powered by a new 110cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke single
cylinder OHC engine. It churns out 8.31 BHP at 8,000 RPM and maximum torque of 8.3 Nm at 6,500 RPM.
Both scooters feature multiple safety features like the Side Stand Indicator, Throttle Position Sensor,
Integrated Braking System, Fuel Cap Safety Buzzer and Tubeless Tyres.
The two scooters also share some ergonomic features such as the remote external fuel lid, under-seat USB
phone charging port, under-seat boot light, digital-analogue meter console, twin parking lights and
European style switchgear. Both the scooters have a full metal body construction for better durability and
safety.
They also feature negative-offset telescopic forks which offer great handling and ride comfort along with
the tubeless tyres. The Hero Maestro Edge unlike the new Hero Duet comes with 12-inch wheels and
motorcycle styled front mudguard.
The Hero Duet will be available immediately with ex-showroom prices for Bangalore being INR 48,400 for
the LX and INR 49,900 for the VX variant. The Hero Maestro Edge will be available for sale from mid-
November and the pricing would be released for Bangalore shortly. The ex-showroom price in Delhi for the
Hero Maestro Edge is INR 49,500.
