Honda has announced an upgrade to its middle-weight bike the CBR 500R for the 2016 model year. The new 2016 Honda CBR 500R will be unveiled at the American International Motorcycle Expo on 15th of October. Honda have gone ahead and given us a glimpse of the upcoming bike with two low-exposure images with accentuating lines to show the new sharp design lines and the newly designed dual LED-headlights.
The Honda CBR 500R has been well received world-wide by riders of all age groups. It has attained far-flung popularity for its lively performance and handling characteristics, not to forget the affordable price tag it carries. With the new upgrades, Honda plans to package the 2016 Honda CBR 500R in a new styling and presence to attract not only new buyers who are looking at stepping-up from smaller bikes but also experienced riders who are seeking comfortable and casual riding.
Honda call the new styling of the CBR 500R as “Aggressive Speed Shape” with sharp and edgy characteristic lines. The new front fairing features an angry-looking sharp dual LED-headlight design and the rear sports an up-swept and high tail section. They describe the new design as “appearance of speed and purpose”.
The press release also points at new features and upgrades that can be expected from the new 2016 Honda CBR 500R for 2016. The front suspension gets an upgrade and it would have adjustable pre-load. The fuel tank will be larger with increased capacity and will come with a newly designed hinged fuel cap which is a first for the CBR 500R. The 2016 model would have adjustable clutch and brake levers to make riding comfortable to a wide range of riders. A “wave” style ignition key will be the last of rider focused updates.
A new smaller irregular shaped exhaust design will ensure mass centralization. The new exhaust muffler has an irregular cross-section design to help improve the lower range tones and add crispness to the exhaust sound. The range of upgrades to the new 2016 Honda CBR 500R seems to make the already exciting bike even more desirable. The bike would be one of the favourites among the available A2-license complaint (European licencing) motorcycles available in the market. The 2016 Honda CBR 500R is planned to be released in the North America, Europe, Asia and Japan (as the CBR 400R). Not long now until we can have a proper look at the bike during its unveiling in Orlando, Florida.
