According to sources, Mahindra & Mahindra should be launching its dynamically styled hatchback cars codenamed the S101 in the third week of January, 2016.

Mahindra’s upcoming hatchback, the S101, has already generated considerable interest amongst Indian customers. This car will be launched soon and will be challenging vehicles like the Hyundai Eon, Maruti Celerio and even the Wagon R. Additionally, it will be taking the Renault Kwid head-on in Indian markets.

The Renault Kwid has garnered considerable attention of customers due to its SUV-like design and aggressive styling at the price of an entry level vehicle. The French major announced in October that the car had garnered 50, 000 bookings within a single month of its launch. The S101 from Mahindra should be coming with an all new petrol motor and diesel engine options should also be present. There could be the mHawk80 engine used along with automatic transmission from the newly launched TUV300 SUV being used here as a variant.

The S101 should be banking on its aggressive design and competitive price tag below INR 4 lakh to create a stir in this highly competitive market segment. The car should also be coming with certain unique features like bench seats at the front to seat three in addition to several technological upgrades not seen on hatchbacks in this category. This should certainly help it pose a stiff challenge to the Kwid.
