Hyundai Motors Launches Grand i10 and Xcent CNG Variants in India!

Hyundai Motors has launched the highly awaited CNG variants of its compact sedan Xcent and the Grand i10 hatchback. These newly launched models will cost INR 65, 000 more as per company information.

Hyundai India has always been known for market leading innovation and responding to the pulse of customers very fast. The company recently added another feather in its cap with the launch of the pioneering CNG variants of the compact sedan Xcent and Grand i10 hatchback. Customers will have to shell out approximately INR 65, 000 more to acquire the CNG kits along with on-road prices of petrol trims that they choose. This move has been hailed by auto industry professionals as a much needed initiative for conscious and well informed customers.

These CNG equipped vehicles come with Dual ECU Dynamic Sequential Technology or DEDST CNG kits with injectors held separately. These work to dispatch optimized gas flow to the engine, thereby facilitating proper power maintenance and suitable performance all throughout. Models with the kit will be covered under the two year unlimited kilometres warranty provided by the company as well. There should be a slight blip in the overall performance of the 1.2 litre petrol Kappa engine upon integration with the CNG kit.

At present, the Xcent and Grand i10 both come with 5 speed manual transmission and their engines both dish out around 83 PS of power along with torque figures of 114 Nm. Automatic trims will not be provided with CNG. There was earlier an LPG variant for the Grand i10 but it has been phased out owing to lack of customer demand. Hyundai hopes to make a mark in the hatchback and compact sedan categories with its CNG variants.
