The Hyundai Elite i20 had crossed the 1 lakh sales market in the month of June this year. The car has not gone on to cross the 1.5 lakh sales mark as well! A statement was released by Hyundai Motors India Limited stating the same and thanking their customers and employees for making the vehicle a super brand. The second generation i20 was launched in the Indian market in August 2014.
The vehicle is one of the most successful cars for the Korean car maker. The premium hatchback has consistently racked up the numbers for HMIL. Even after fourteen months of being launched, the company sold around 11,019 units in October 2015.
Hyundai India had also launched the i20 Active, at the back of the success of the Elite i20 hatch back. The combined sales of the i20 Active and Elite i20 have averaged around 10,765 units between the months of May and October 2015.
The Elite i20 is priced between Rs 5.3 and 6.93 lakh for the petrol version while the diesel variants are priced from Rs 6.41 to 8.05 lakh. HMIL has claimed that the i20 family commands around 66 percent share in the premium compact segment. The i20 Active, costs between Rs 6.38 to 7.09 lakh for the petrol models whereas the diesel versions have been priced from Rs 7.63 to 8.89 lakh.
