The Suzuki Vitara was showcased at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year and has been put on sale in international market. However, quite recently, the Vitara SUV was spotted on Indian roads and shall be launched soon.
Maruti Suzuki had earlier attempted to sell the Grand Vitara XL 7 in the country. However, it met with limited success mainly because it was available in a petrol only model. The car has been withdrawn from showrooms. It also faced strong competition from vehicles like Toyota Fortuner.
The latest Suzuki Vitara has been styled along the lines of Suzuki’s iV-4 concept, that was introduced in the market back in 2013. The latest SUV is based on a completely new platform that underpins other Suzuki models as well. It is positioned along the recently launched S Cross, which has been made available in the country. It is in direct competition with the Hyundai Creta, launched around the same time.
The Suzuki Vitara SUV is sold internationally with diesel and petrol engine options, of 1.6L capacity. However, the exact launch date of the SUV in India is unsure. Currently, Maruti is busy preparing its new compact SUV for the Indian market that shall be pitted against the Ford EcoSport.
