The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be launched in 2016 by Fiat Chrysler India as the Jeep brand will be officially make its debut in India. The Grand Cherokee will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that will churn out 215bhp of power and 510Nm of peak torque. This will come mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Grand Cherokee will compete with the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz ML-Class and the BMW X3. The Grand Cherokee is expected to have a lower price tag than rivals, and will carry Jeep’s off-roading as well. It will be sold only with a 4×4 variant, and there might not be a 4×2 version for India.

Kevin Flynn who is the new President and Managing Director-Operations will be heading Jeep operations in India Flynn will be responsible for strengthening the overall sales of the Jeep brand and the sub-brands that will be introduced in the country.  Fiat is currently setting up exclusive dealerships for Jeep and will be launching five dealerships in major cities, to begin with.The Grand Cherokee will be coming to India as a CBU (completely built unit).
