New 200 NS To Get Electronic Fuel Injection
The Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS was launched in 2012 and marked the beginning of a completely new phase for the Pulsar family. It came with a completely new design and most certainly was a big step ahead in terms of technology compared to its predecessors. This year the new Pulsar RS 200 and AS 200 bikes were launched which built on the platform of the hugely successful 200 NS.
Bajaj had to temporarily discontinue the production of the Pulsar 200 NS in August as a result of the overwhelming demand for the newly launched RS 200 and the AS 200. However, the 200 NS will be making a comeback soon along with some added goodies.
Bajaj Auto will be re-launching the Pulsar 200 NS early next year but this time it will have a new refined engine with fuel injection. The rumours also suggest that the new 200 NS will get some styling changes too, but we do not think that they would be very significant. The new improved 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection is expected to have a slightly better performance over the older power plant. The new 200 NS will develop a maximum power of 24.5 PS at 9,750 RPM and maximum torque of 18.6 Nm at 8,000 RPM. The improvement in performance is marginal compared to the older engine which churned out 23.5 PS and 18.3 Nm. The added FI system will for sure also give a better fuel efficiency to the new 200 NS.
Apart from these, the reports do not suggest any other changes mechanically. So the new Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS will come with the same short ratio 6-speed gear box. The higher power and torque could result in a higher top end than the earlier 135 kmph. With all the upgrades to the engine and cosmetic changes, it would be thoughtful of Bajaj if they consider providing the new 200 NS with ABS as an option. But, we doubt if that will happen in this iteration of the upgrade. Cosmetically, rumours suggest that the 200 NS will get a new yellow-black paint scheme and the Pulsar badge on the tank would be shifted to the top of the tank.
The new upgraded Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS with fuel injection can be expected to be priced marginally higher owing to the newly added fuel injection system. Bringing back the 200 NS will complete the Pulsar brand portfolio with all three sports, naked and adventure sports-tourer categories.
