Honda CB Hornet 160R Launched

Posted 8 years ago by QuikrCars | 3236 views

Honda announced the CB Hornet 160R for India along with CBR650F launch during the Revfest event. While Honda gave away almost all the details about the new CB Hornet 160R, what was kept a mystery was the price of this new Hornet, until yesterday. Yesterday evening, HMSI in an event in Goa officially launched the motorcycle and unveiled its prices. There will be two versions of the Honda CB Hornet 160R, one the standard version that has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 81,249/- in Bangalore and the second a CBS version that has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 85,749/- in Bangalore. This translates to roughly about Rs. 94,000/- on road for the standard version and Rs. 99,000/- for the CBS version. Basically CBS stands for Combi Braking System and what it does is apply a bit of the front brake automatically whenever the rear brake is depressed.

Price wise, we have to say that Honda has absolutely nailed it. The Honda CB Hornet 160R has been priced right along with its strongest competition the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ V2. Right from day one we have been fans of the new CB Hornet 160R. It looks chunky and finally it was a Honda that appealed to the youth and not just a serious looking motorcycle. The engine on the Hornet 160R is lifted directly from the newly launched CB Unicorn 160. It’s essentially the same engine that has been doing duty on the Unicorn since ages, but in its current trim has been heavily re-worked on. It now has been tuned to deliver a good amount of torque while retaining its character of being a smooth and reliable engine. The max power of 15.66 HP comes in at 8,500 RPM and max torque of 14.76 Nm comes in at 6,500 RPM. We are very familiar with this engine since we already tested out the Unicorn 160. And we must say we were quite impressed by it. While it might not be a peaky and rev happy engine, the torque available makes up for it. And in city conditions of slow moving traffic you need more torque than power.

The Honda CB Hornet 160R will be available in 5 colour options – Pearl Night Star Black, Pearl Siren Blue, Sports Red, Pearl Amazing White and Neo Orange Metallic. With looks that will make it easily stand apart from its competition and an engine that will make it a pleasant ride, we are quite sure that the Honda CB Hornet 160R will be well accepted in the market. But what we really hope for is a 250cc version of this.
