DSK Benelli TNT 25 Launch On 18th December
The year has almost come to an end, but the motorcycle launches are far from over. DSK Benelli is bringing in an early Christmas present for the motorcycle enthusiasts in India. On December 18th DSK Benelli will launch the TNT 25 in India. Powered by a 251.5 cc single cylinder engine, the DSK Benelli TNT 25 will be the cheapest offering by the company. The single cylinder engine puts out a max power of 24.8 HP at 9000 RPM and a max torque of 21 Nm at 7000 RPM. This puts it in direct competition with the CBR250R and the Mojo. That means DSK Benelli will have to price the motorcycle accordingly. An on-road price below 2 lakhs would really give this motorcycle from DSK Benelli a fighting chance against its competition. But given that the motorcycle will be a CKD unit we do not expect a pricing below 2 lakh.
The DSK Benelli TNT 25 fairly resembles the existing TNT 300 but definitely is a different motorcycle. Design wise the tank looks sharp with its well defined lines but the overall styling of the motorcycle is more smooth than sharp. The beefy front forks and the stubby looking exhaust all add to the big bike look of the DSK Benelli TNT 25. Other highlights of the bike include split seats, rear grab rails, multi spoke alloys and an elegant looking speedo.
Front suspensions are 41 mm USD forks and the rear has a multistep adjustable mono-shock. Braking duty is handled by a single 280 mm disc with four piston callipers at the front and a 240 mm disc with two piston calliper at the rear. The ground clearance of 130 mm is rather disappointing and could be a hindrance to this otherwise fun looking motorcycle. A number that is interestingly good is the kerb weight of 150 kg that should really help this motorcycle shoot ahead of its competition. DSK Benelli claim a top speed of about 145 km/hr for the TNT 25; and with its 16.5 litre tank expect a tank range in excess of 400 km.
Apart from this, it is interesting to note that DSK Benelli will be having many launches and unveiling at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. These will include the new scrambler the Leoncino, the adventure bike called the TRK 502 and the sports tourer, Tornado 302. With such a large palette of motorcycles the day is not far away when these motorcycles will be made in India. DSK Benelli has in fact acquired land in Pune and we could see local production as early as late 2016 or early 2017. Good days ahead indeed.
