Posted 8 years ago by QuikrCars | 400 views

Volkswagen will be unveiling its compact sedan (the DZire competition) at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. The new compact sedan will be based on the Polo platform and it will be a sub 4-meter sedan that will be made for the Indian car market itself. The requirement of these compact sedans has been rising in our market and more and more buyers want to look at picking up compact sedans as they are three box and at the same time even more affordable.

The Volkswagen compact sedan will get two engines, one is a 1.2-liter petrol and the other is the 1.5-litre diesel. These new engines will be powering the Volkswagen compact sedan, which will be priced between INR 5-8 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Volkswagen compact sedan will be another compact sedan that will be added to the list. At the moment, there is Maruti DZire, Hyundai XCent, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and the Ford Figo Aspire.

The Volkswagen compact sedan will even be getting updated interiors, and these will be somewhat different from the regular Polo and Vento. The design of this compact sedan will be a bit different from the existing hatchback and sedan. There are likely to be daytime running LEDs, LED tail lamps, interiors should get a new touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, electrically folding mirrors, dual airbags and even ABS. The German automaker will manufacture this new compact sedan at its Chakan facility, while the Aurangabad plant will be used to manufacture the higher end vehicles like Jetta, Passat etc. We could see a Skoda-based compact sedan too, but that won’t be any time before 2017. The cars with badge generally are launched the next year.
