Tata Motors witness slump in sales by 7% in November

As per industry data, Tata Motors has witnessed a downfall in overall sales even though its M&HCV segment grew strongly by 21% in November 2015. However, the LCV segment witnessed a decline by almost 16%.

Total sales for Tata Motors, India’s biggest automobile maker by value, stood at approximately 38,918 units for November 2015 as compared to 41,720 units in November 2014. This represented a fall in sales volumes by 7% according to the BSE filing of the company. For November 2015, sales of passenger vehicles declined by 13% with 10,517 units sold as compared to 12,021 sold in the same month last year.

However, the M&HCV segment continued to grow strongly with 21% increase while the LCV segment sales fell by a further 16%. The passenger and commercial vehicles divisions sold 35, 345 units domestically which was lower by around 6% compared to 37,427 vehicles for November 2014. Total sales figures including exports for the fiscal stood at 3,24, 973 units which was 3% more than the last corresponding period sales of 3,14,505 vehicles.

In Indian markets, the compact car segment minus sedans, witnessed 33% growth with 5,821 units being sold in November 2015. Overall passenger car sales went down by 11% in this month to stand at around 9,172 units.
